I’m a Navy brat, so the question “Where are you from?” always leaves me wondering what the answer is.
Whether moving constantly instilled in me my love for traveling, or just nursed it along, I don’t know. But once I grew up, I just kept moving.
I learned to body surf in Costa Rica, saw the world from its (then) tallest building in Taiwan, and got hopelessly lost in the Canary Islands. I’ve flown through the Philippine jungle hanging off the back of a Jeepney, and watched the sun rise over the Negev. I performed theater in the streets of Caracas, taught English in Prague, dined on haggis in Edinburgh, and spent quality time in all 50 United States.
So. Why acting?
I want to do it all. Someone tells me about their job and I think, “That sounds interesting. I want to do that!” And then the frustration of being merely human hits me with the reality: I have but one little life to live. But as an actress, I can live many different lives.
